The Most Important Medicine for our Teenagers Outlined in Revealing New Book
FAITH NEWS SERVICE – Dr Diana Adis Tahhan (PhD) sees it all. She sees the brokenness of teenagers in her clinic daily: the unsatiated desires for, and attachment to, the things of this world; self-harm, pornography and sexual experimentation; identity confusion, bullying, and the dangers of social media and device use.
Many teenagers are being beckoned into a cyber-playground that keeps them up at night, agitated and anxious, unable to find peace amidst the noisy confusion of the world. They have lost sight of who they are and Whose they are.
Teenagers are often brought to see Dr Diana when conventional medicine hasn’t worked. Parents are at their wits end, finding it difficult to navigate bringing up their teenagers in this ever changing, secular world.
They have been medicalised, pathologized, and in many cases, this has simply masked the real dis-ease: an unsettledness in their hearts and a restlessness in their spirits that has not been healed. For many it can’t be, not until they find rest in something much greater than what this world can offer.
Dr Diana writes about many of these issues in her new book, The Truth About Highschool: An Applied Philosophy For Life. This powerful and practical book offers relevant and interesting examples and experiences to help the reader unpack their emotions and lived experience. Dr Diana provides simple, yet powerful tools to disconnect from the fleshless, virtual world so that we can make meaningful changes to our lives.
Although The Truth About High School is written for teens, its powerful message is relevant to us all. It will also help parents, grandparents, educators and carers find peace amidst the noise in their own lives, and learn how to apply this for teenagers and children.
The message in this book highlights for our teenagers, and for us all, the most important medicine of all. It is the first of her Truth Series, which all address real-life struggles and experiences, whilst providing tools to help people find hope and healing.
Her Truth Series is about unwavering hope, each book providing a context to challenge the current narrative and provide real life examples and practical tools and exercises to help readers connect with a higher purpose, a bigger story, a greater truth that will change your life.
Dr Diana is an author, speaker, Multidiscipline Therapist and the founder of Sydney Healing and Research Centre. She combines insights from psychology, theology, sociology, neuroscience, olfactory science, medical anthropology and the science of touch to help people address their emotional and physical health holistically.
She teaches about the power of the mind and the various natural therapies available to help bring people to homeostasis. From this relaxed state, and a deep awareness of what they can do to help themselves heal, Dr Diana empowers people to improve their lives naturally. As an Orthodox Christian, Dr Diana also applies, where relevant, the wisdom and insights of her faith. She is the mother of three children, and together with her husband Daniel, are raising them to stand in truth and faith.
