The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine exists to support homeschooling families, and that support continues beyond a student’s grade 12 graduation. Homeschool students generally score higher than average on the SAT test. In 2014, the mean scores of 13,549 homeschool seniors were 567 in critical reading, 521 in mathematics, and 535 in writing. The corresponding mean scores of all college-bound seniors were 497, 513, and 487 respectively (Brian D. Ray, PhD, NHERI.org, June 7, 2016). With these scores, it is no surprise that colleges are actively recruiting homeschool students (Ray, January 7, 2019). In fact, all eight Ivy League colleges do accept homeschoolers.
