FAITH NEWS SERVICE – With so many Americans struggling with mental health challenges—more than 50 percent will be diagnosed at some point in their life, one in five in any given year*—a nationally recognized recovery leader has stepped up to the plate. Nanette Larson’s Restoration Guide provides recovery principles and practical strategies for full restoration.
This Restoration Guide is a companion book to her memoir, From Shattered to Restored: Recovering Hope, Discovering Purpose, which tells Nanette’s dramatic story of hopelessness and despair, struggling through years of mental illness, and how she attained freedom and full recovery through hard work and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Each chapter of the Restoration Guide mirrors its respective chapter in the memoir, utilizing study questions, points for reflection, prayers, pertinent Scripture, and more.
Through the teaching and interactive prompts, the reader will learn how to apply four essential principles of restoration that are continuously woven throughout the journey of recovery and discovery:
- Abide in Christ.
- Cast down every high thing that exalts itself above the knowledge of God.
- Renew your mind through the Word of God.
- Yield to the Holy Spirit.
The guide is designed for small groups or individuals.
“Recovering from and living beyond mental health challenges is possible for anyone who is willing to put in the work,” Nanette says. “In my memoir, I share how God set me free. In the Restoration Guide, you are given the opportunity to allow God to do the healing work in your heart.”
The Restoration Guide encourages readers to position their hearts for the Holy Spirit to do the real work of recovery and discovery.
