Download for Free through August 1, 2026

FAITH NEWS SERVICEThe Sacred Journey guides readers through forty days of Scripture, lament, and gentle practices after loss.

Gilbert, AZ – July 27, 2026 — As National Grief Awareness Day approaches on August 30, licensed clinical pastoral counselor and spiritual director Dr. Carolyn Treadwell-Butler has released The Sacred Journey: How Do I Go On After Loss? (Redemption Press, 2026), a forty-day devotional for those navigating death, divorce, diagnosis, fractured relationships, or other life-altering loss. Drawing from personal grief and years of pastoral care, Treadwell-Butler offers a Scripture-rooted path that honors sorrow without rushing it.

Many grieving believers continue functioning outwardly while privately struggling to pray, name their emotions, or sense God’s nearness. Through daily reflections, prayers, “Sacred Pause” practices, and the Adaptive Grief Response™ model, Treadwell-Butler helps readers understand that grief is not a failure of faith, lament can become honest communion with God, and healing unfolds at the pace of grace.

Treadwell-Butler wrote the devotional after the death of her sister, Pamela, and from her own experiences of miscarriage, divorce, and serious illness. Her prayer is that no one will feel pressured to “move on” or grieve alone, but will discover that God meets them in the valley and gently teaches them how to live again.

Rather than presenting grief as a fixed sequence of stages, The Sacred Journey guides readers through five recurring movements of grace: recognizing and responding, releasing and receiving, rebalancing and renewing, reimagining and restoring, and integrating and blessing. Each entry combines Scripture, personal story, teaching, prayer, reflection questions, a daily truth, and a simple spiritual practice, making the book useful for individual readers, grief-support groups, churches, counselors, pastors, chaplains, and caregivers.

Carolyn Treadwell-Butler’s print copy will be available on July 28, 2026; with the e-book free to download on Amazon for 5 days through August 1, 2026. Early readers are already sharing how much the story has touched them—here’s what a couple of reviewers have said:
