New Memoir Gives Hope to First Responders Carrying the Hidden Weight of Trauma

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – Gilbert, AZ — June 10, 2026 — What if the breaking point you fear most becomes the very place God steps in to save your life?

In his powerful new memoir, I Wasn’t Ready (Redemption Press, 2025), Washington State Trooper Corey Kingman invites readers into the unseen world of law enforcement—the trauma, the pressure, the silence—and the God who met him when everything else collapsed.

Drawing from more than twenty-five years of service, Kingman writes with raw honesty and deep compassion as he recounts the cumulative trauma that nearly cost him his life: PTSD, alcoholism, infertility, marital collapse, and an attempted suicide. Yet at his lowest moment, he experienced a rescue only God could orchestrate.

I Wasn’t Ready is not just a story of survival; it’s a testimony of redemption.

Through his gripping narrative, readers will discover

• the reality of cumulative trauma most first responders carry alone;
• how identity becomes distorted by the badge and restored by God;
• the importance of asking for help, even when silence feels safer;
• the hope available when shame, exhaustion, and fear feel overwhelming; and
• the truth that no one is too far gone for God’s grace to reach.

“You’re not weak because you’re wounded,” says Kingman. “Trauma leaves marks, but grace leaves deeper ones. My hope is that this book becomes a lifeline for anyone who feels unseen or overwhelmed by their story.”

I Wasn’t Ready is available through Redemption Press, Amazon, and other major retailers.
