FAITH NEWS SERVICE – When family law attorney, TEDx Speaker, and Certified Domestic Violence Professional Charlene Quint could not find curriculum for faith-based support groups while working with survivors of domestic abuse, she wrote her own.
Her new release Overcoming the Narcissist, Sociopath, Psychopath, and Other Domestic Abusers—Workbook for Support Groups and Bible Studies (Redemption Press) is designed to accompany her best-selling, ground-breaking, and multi-award-winning book, Overcoming the Narcissist, Sociopath, Psychopath, and Other Domestic Abusers, released in 2020.
The 2020 book, spanning nearly 600 pages, is designed to provide a woman everything she needs to know to identify abuse, get out safely, and heal, and it has become an indispensable resource for counselors, therapists, and domestic violence professionals.
The newly released accompanying workbook is a hands-on, interactive guide designed for women in small group settings or individual study. The curriculum helps women recognize abuse, remove themselves from toxic relationships, and recover emotionally, physically, financially and spiritually.
Quint explains, “Women believe a ton of lies that get us into unhealthy relationships, keep us there, and keep us from healing. When we recognize, reject, and replace the lies with God’s truth, we can recognize, remove, and recover from abuse. These are the 3 R’s of Truth and the 3 R’s of Abuse.”
Quint, who draws on her professional and personal experiences and expertise, says her number one goal is “for women who have been in toxic relationships to be healed and whole, and become the victorious, fearless women God designed them to be.” Quint has been facilitating nation-wide women’s Bible studies and support groups over the past several years using the curriculum and has helped hundreds of women move from victim to victorious.
She says she has seen God work in amazing healing ways. “Women from around the country constantly tell me that the experience in our group is life-changing. God is on the move transforming lives!”
Quint characterizes domestic abuse as “the most prevalent and yet most silenced and misunderstood pandemic of our time.” One third of women at some point in their lives will experience rape, stalking, or serious physical abuse at the hands of an intimate partner, and nearly half will experience emotional and verbal abuse and coercive control.
Yet churches are largely silent on the subject, and clergy often do not know what to do—or worse, support the abuser rather than the victim.
This workbook is a must-have and long-awaited resource for churches with women’s ministries and faith-based domestic abuse organizations. The workbook is available in paperback and Kindle versions on Amazon and wherever books are sold.
