FAITH NEWS SERVICE – YouTube series for kids ages 7–12 mixes Scripture, comedy, recurring characters and unexpected Bible stories to help families raise kids who know what they believe — and why.

ST. PAUL, Minnesota — September 4, 2026 — Sunday School is getting a little more rowdy.

Holy Hooligans, a new Bible-based YouTube series created for kids ages 7–12 and their families, will premiere its first full episode on Sunday, September 27.

Hosted by the larger-than-life Joey Buffalo, Holy Hooligans combines biblical teaching with comedy, characters, challenges, memorable catchphrases and some of the stranger — and often overlooked — stories found in Scripture.

The goal is simple: make kids want to open their Bibles.

“Kids can handle a lot more Scripture than we sometimes give them credit for,” said Joey Buffalo, creator and host of Holy Hooligans. “I wanted to make something that was genuinely funny and entertaining, but that never watered down what the Bible actually says. If a kid laughs at something Joey Buffalo does and then goes looking up 1 Kings with their parents afterward, that’s a win.”

The premiere episode, “What Were Those Baal Boys Smoking?”, takes viewers into the showdown between Elijah and the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18.

Future episodes will explore David and Goliath, Jesus sending demons into a herd of pigs, the Nephilim of Genesis 6, Paul at the Areopagus, Naboth’s vineyard, the gospel itself and other biblical topics rarely tackled in conventional children’s programming.

Each episode combines several recurring elements, including Bible teaching, “Three Truths” kids can remember, Bible Boss trivia, comedy segments, challenges and a closing reminder to:

“Keep chopping wood for Team Jesus.”

The series also features the Holy Hooligans Creed:

We follow Jesus.

We stand on God’s Word.

We speak truth and show love.

We do what’s right — even when it’s hard.

We keep chopping wood for Team Jesus.

While Holy Hooligans is aimed directly at kids, the project was built with parents in mind.

“Parents shouldn’t have to wonder what worldview is hiding underneath something their kids are watching,” Buffalo said. “With Holy Hooligans, I want parents to know exactly where we stand. Jesus is Lord. God’s Word is true. And we can teach those things without making Christian kids’ content boring.”

In addition to full episodes, Holy Hooligans will feature several recurring series, including Faith Faceoff, which helps kids understand how Christianity differs from other worldviews; Campfire Chats, conversations about cultural and biblical topics; and Pilgrim Picks, recommendations for Christian and family-friendly media.

The official Holy Hooligans trailer premiered on September 2, with the first full episode arriving September 27.

New Holy Hooligans content will continue to release regularly on YouTube.
