Rhyming Picture Book on Salvation Introduces Children to Jesus

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – A study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that children who regularly pray and attend church grow up to report a stronger sense of community and fewer symptoms of depression. They tend to “think about their health in a holistic way, where the mind, body and spirit are all connected,” says Jane Kuepfer, a specialist in spirituality and aging at Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.¹

Helping children build their spiritual foundations “set[s] the stage for the child’s future and help[s] them to develop those faith-based habits to prepare them for when they reach an age where they can begin to reflect on and understand the different aspects of faith.”²

One way to introduce young children to faith in Christ is through picture books. In Jesus in the Driver’s Seat (Redemption Press), Rachael A. McCloskey takes the unique approach of explaining salvation and conversion through the metaphor of motorized machines.
