FAITH NEWS SERVICE – “More than half (55%) of Americans say they pray every day, according to a 2014 Pew Research Center survey,” and women and Americans ages sixty-five and older are more likely to pray.[1] Yet many do not know what the Bible says about prayer. Jon Drury, a retired career pastor, aims to change that with his new release, You Rang? Biblical Principles of Prayer (Redemption Press).

The principles of prayer in the Bible teach us how to pray effectively—how to approach God as a loving Father who delights in meeting his children’s needs, not as an automated machine you put your money into and get a product out of.

In this new release, Jon Drury, a retired career pastor and former air force pilot in Vietnam and the Pacific, teaches the basics of prayer—what prayer is, to whom we are praying, why we should pray, and to how to pray. He cites one of the definitions of prayer as “Prayer is the act of the believer in working together with God.”

This primer on prayer clearly sets out what the Bible says about prayers of confession and petition, the habits of prayer, the role of praise and lament in prayer, and prayer and spiritual warfare. You Rang? will help the reader get to know God, the One who answers prayer, and how he wants us to pray.
