FAITH NEWS SERVICE – You may be a Christian, but that doesn’t automatically mean you’re fulfilled or know what truly satisfies you deep down. According to Answers to Tough Questions about God and Life, believers struggle to find answers to their discontent.*

Author Heather Murdock didn’t know the answer to that until she began the personal journey of transformation that only occurs when you give your life to Jesus.

From growing up in a school bus, to trying to make it in Hollywood, to being a young woman living alone in New York, Heather’s life has been full of twists and turns. She experienced what felt like many lifetimes in those years, but nothing prepared her for the heartache that followed when her sister was tragically taken in a drunk-driving accident. In the months and years after her passing, Heather began putting the pieces of her broken heart back together. Her pain led her to discover the deep-seated meaning of inner peace and satisfaction. And the answer surprised her.

Her journey of healing and fulfillment in Christ has brought her to the place of being able to share with other women what God had done in her own life. As she studied Isaiah 55, the key chapter for a retreat she was speaking for, the Holy Spirit helped her realize more deeply why people flocked to earthly, tangible things that would never truly satisfy.

Murdock says, “Everything we need is available in and through Christ, yet we continue to go to other people, places, and things because of the condition of our heart.”

In July 2019, that talk from the women’s retreat transformed into Rise and Rejoice, a six-week Bible study focused on helping women through emotional and spiritual healing. Written in a raw, transformative, hopeful style, the author desires for readers to “be healed from pain and trauma so they can become who God made them to be.” By using gentle journaling and prayer prompt elements, readers will identify their greatest needs in a safe, accepting space and watch as Jesus meets them there.
