FAITH NEWS SERVICE – While those in Christian leadership need to understand the basic principles of business, there are elements of leadership that are unique to believers.

In his new book, Kingdom Leadership: Developing Effective Leaders for the Kingdom of Heaven, Nathan Porter has used his years of experience to deliver Christian leaders with the tools they need to not only be successful in their field, but to be able to bring Godly principles into their lives.

Nathan has dedicated many years to studying and reading about leadership, both through formal education in his MBA program, and as part of his personal journey of growth. This includes in his current role as a CEO, where leadership can literally make or break an organization.

Over time, he noticed a significant disconnect between the leadership principles taught in the world and what he believed God was revealing to him. He recognized that while worldly leadership often focuses on power, position, and influence, the leadership God calls us to is rooted in humility, servanthood, and aligning with His will.

After receiving a profound revelation from God through His word, Nathan gained a deeper and clearer understanding of the stark contrast between worldly leadership and Kingdom Leadership—an approach that calls us to lead not for our own gain, but for God’s glory and the service of others.

This powerful revelation sparked a deep desire in Nathan, an experienced leader, to share what he had learned. He was inspired to write this book with the aim of helping others discern the difference between the worldly concept of leadership, and the transformative leadership God desires for each of us to embrace and live out in our daily lives.

Through this work, Nathan hopes to guide Christians in embracing a leadership style that reflects God’s heart and fulfills His purpose for their lives.

Kingdom Leadership: Developing Effective Leaders for the Kingdom of Heaven invites readers on a transformative journey into the heart of leadership through the lens of the Kingdom of Heaven. In a crowded field of leadership literature, this book offers a unique perspective rooted in biblical principles and timeless wisdom.

Through exploration of scriptural-based concepts, Nathan uncovers the intrinsic value and potential within each individual as a Kingdom leader. Comparing Kingdom leadership to historical leadership concepts of influential figures, readers will gain a deeper understanding of the difference in leadership dynamics. This book is not just a reflection of his journey, but a calling to share God’s truth with others in a deeper and more expansive way.

Nathan has built a diverse career in both national and international roles, which has provided him with the opportunity to observe leadership practices across the globe. Through his experiences, he has gained insight into how leadership concepts and functions vary depending on cultural backgrounds and individual perceptions of what it means to be a leader.

Nathan has worked with and for global entities, including property development and construction conglomerates, world banks, and international investors.

In addition to his corporate experience, Nathan also works with an international non-governmental organization focused on peace-building projects in conflict-affected areas of Myanmar. He has served as a Director and Chairperson of the in-country organization and currently holds the position of Director and CEO of the Australian branch.

Nathan’s academic background includes formal studies, with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance, and a Master of Business Administration with a specialization in Leadership. These experiences have equipped him with a broad and nuanced understanding of leadership, both in theory and in practice.

This is Nathan’s first book, a project that has been years in the making. It all started when he felt a strong inspiration from God to write down the insights and revelations God had been showing him. What initially began as personal reflections soon developed into teaching notes designed to encourage and uplift those in his church, sharing the wisdom God had imparted to him.

As Nathan continued to reflect on these revelations, the notes grew in depth and substance, eventually expanding into the work you see today.

Throughout this process, Nathan has felt a continuous sense of divine inspiration, guided by the Holy Spirit, to refine and articulate his thoughts in a way that would help others understand and embrace the message God has placed on his heart.

These varied experiences, along with the revelation Nathan received from God, have profoundly shaped his understanding of the significance of Kingdom Leadership and its role in guiding others toward God’s will.

The book challenges readers to shift their mindset, moving away from conventional worldly views of leadership and embracing the divine blueprint God has laid out for His people to live and lead by. Nathan carefully breaks down how our thoughts shape our beliefs, which in turn influence our convictions. He explains how these internal factors directly impact our attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors—particularly in our understanding of leadership. This process of transformation is crucial for anyone seeking to lead as God intended.

Readers will gain practical insights into how to apply Kingdom Leadership in every area of their lives: from personal relationships to professional endeavors. Nathan’s approach goes beyond the typical Christian leadership books by analyzing how common leadership structures, taught by the world, influence even the operations of the Church.

He sheds light on how these worldly structures can sometimes divert the Church from its true calling and mission, providing a thought-provoking perspective on how we are meant to operate as leaders in God’s Kingdom.

Additionally, Nathan addresses the personal growth needed for Christians to be effective leaders in God’s Kingdom. He identifies key areas of a believer’s life that require development to reflect the fruit of the Spirit and the character of Christ. Through this, the book offers practical wisdom on how to align one’s leadership with God’s will, equipping readers to lead with integrity, humility, and purpose.

Ultimately, it helps readers understand how to embody the type of leadership that not only serves God’s Kingdom but also reflects His love, justice, and truth in a world that desperately needs it.

Designed to challenge and encourage, Kingdom Leadership helps readers move from the belief that leadership is something reserved for a few, to fully embracing the truth that they are all called to lead. It inspires readers to recognize that leadership is not just about holding a title or occupying a position of authority, but about living out a calling that touches every area of their lives.

By re-framing leadership in this way, Nathan’s book encourages readers to shift their perspective and realize that they have the ability to lead through the simple, everyday actions that reflect Christ’s love. This leadership is not about seeking recognition, but about living in such a way that others are drawn to God’s truth and love through their example.

The book empowers readers to live out their calling, no matter their circumstances, knowing that leadership is found in service and that God equips each of us to lead with grace and humility in every sphere of life.

Whether you’re just beginning to recognize your leadership potential or you’re already on the path to living out your calling, Kingdom Leadership will inspire you to lead with purpose, grounded in God’s truth, and empowered by His Spirit. It’s an invitation for all believers to step up and become the leaders God intended them to be, fully equipped to fulfill His will on earth.

Kingdom Leadership will help readers embrace a new perspective, elevate their leadership, and make a lasting impact in their spheres of influence for the Kingdom of Heaven. Kingdom Leadership, published by Ark House, is now available globally.
