New Release Picture Book Helps Parents Talk to Children About Death

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – “Discussing death with your kids can be a real concern and many tend to avoid it. Death is however an inevitable part of life and it is our responsibility to ensure our kids are aware of it and know it’s okay to discuss it,” says an article from the Child Development Institute.[1]

Parents will find a new resource for dealing with this eventuality in a picture book entitled Always and Forever (Redemption Press) by Donna Arthur Downs, illustrated by Elena Delzer. In the book, after her grandma dies a little girl questions her grandma’s promise to be there for her “always and forever.”

She wonders about the meaning of always and forever as she grieves her loss. As the girl works her way through the grieving process, memories come alive in her mind, and she realizes on her own that those memories can help her as she seeks to move forward and live without her grandma’s literal presence.

Downs, who teaches at the college level, says, “Love is enduring; we remember feelings even when people leave us.” Touching and memorable, this realistic approach to helping children with their feelings of grief highlights the importance of cherishing memories and the value of building relationships. Delightful rhyming language will appeal to children and adults.

Michelle Medlock Adams, multiple-award-winning author of more than one hundred books, including Fly High: Understanding Grief with God’s Help says, “Grief is difficult to navigate—especially when you’re a child.

Always & Forever is a great resource for families to use when helping a child cope with the loss of a loved one. In this tender picture book, Author Donna Arthur Downs lets readers feel the pain this child feels after Grandma passes away, walking us through the heartbreak and leaving us with a sense of hope and peace.

Often, the loss of a grandparent is the first death a child will experience, so this book will be very relatable for children and offer them comfort as they walk through the stages of grief.”

Here’s what just a couple of the reviewers have said:

Gabe S
5 Stars – My favorite devotional
“I’ve read several devotionals, but this one by far is my favorite. I enjoy early morning reading to start my day. This devotional, so rich in Scriptures, really gets me going to start a conversation with our Creator, and is exactly what I need to help me grow my relationship with my Savior…Jesus. Love it! Also, a perfect gift for family and friends.”

Diana Nygren
5 Stars – Highly recommend this devotional
“…One of the blessings I have received lately was the urge to purchase this devotional.

“I read the introduction twice. So much of it made sense to me. Touched me. Taught me. I started reading the daily entries. I read through an entire week’s worth. I then went back the next morning and started over with day 1, reading it in the morning and evening as well. I got even more out of each entry as I read them again … It is clear that this devotional emphasizes the importance of trusting the Lord. Listening to His Word. Not the words of man, not your own experiences, but only the Word of God. Let’s all go back to the basics and begin again. Remembering how loved we are as God gave his only Son to save us…

“The author has, without a doubt, done a lot of research. Mr. Falk has been able to clearly show the reader his complete devotion to God through his writing. The entries are supported with verses from, not just one, but many translations of the Bible. I find that technique invaluable. I highly recommend this devotional. Now, back to reading.”

his glory

New book helps new believers grow in intimacy with God, and current believers to grow their faith

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – If you have ever wanted to grow your faith and learn more about your Creator, then His Glory might just be for you.

His Glory, written by Australian author, Keshan Singh, says that in writing this revealing book, that God gave him unique insight with each paragraph and page. Keshan, who works in community services as well as as a volunteer speaker for mental health charity, Beyond Blue, has seen the damage caused by the countess lives of people who don’t know Jesus.

The decisions and thus paths they end up walking down, and sadly, the ensuing damage and carnage that comes to many people’s lives, has inspired Keshan to want to reach out and show people that there is in fact real hope.

In His Glory, the basic principles and driving force behind the Christian faith are broken down and explored. The identity of the Trinity and what Christ left behind for believers reveal the faith in a measure for all Christians to comprehend.

Specifically targeted towards new believers, His Glory will help them identify with God and grow in intimacy with Him, through increased knowledge of Him. For existing Christians, its principles are a simple reminder to continue to return to their first love, especially as this world gets darker and moves further and further away from Christianity.

Keshan takes the reader on a journey through the wonders of God in the Old Covenant and meanders into the New Covenant, looking at the wonderful work of salvation through our Saviour. He then presents challenges of the “new life” which is enabled by the workings of the third member of the Godhead, the Holy Spirit.

His Glory will leave you in no doubt about the validity of the work of the Cross and presents the reader with opportunities to respond in an affirmative manner.

The entirety of this book points to the importance of the Christian faith, and Christ Jesus. The reader will grasp a greater understanding of the glory of God through each chapter, and how it is revealed to people, in the ancient days of the Old Covenant and the New.

While this is his first book in the Christian faith, he previously wrote another book, from a secular stance, about his journey with mental health.

Any final words? “Leave everything and follow Jesus alone. You will have all you need. May this book point you to Christ alone,” Keshan says.

His Glory, published by Ark House, is now available globally.

loved saved healed

From sexual abuse as a young girl, new book will help those suffering from trauma

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – When Louise Wilkinson was a little girl, she thought that her father owned her. Sexually abused since infancy, Louise grew up thinking that it was normal to be used for sex. But it gets worse. As a teenager, she was trafficked by her father to his friends.

Louise Wilkinson is a survivor of sexual abuse, and her life has only been able to have any sort of normality because of the fact that she met Jesus in 2012. In one moment, her life changed trajectory and she was able to begin her healing process.

Louise has now written her memoir, Loved. Saved Healed. As part of this, her vision is to help others to heal in whatever area it is that they are feeling pain from. Accordingly, Louise wants to ask you two questions:

1) Have you ever been let down by someone who was meant to love and protect you?

2) Have you ever had your heart broken so badly that you thought you could never forgive that person for hurting you?

When Louise first heard the call from God to write a book, her initial thought was to run and hide. The secrets that she held from her childhood were far too painful to bring out into the open, let alone share with the world. But during her quiet time with the Lord, she kept hearing the same words repeatedly, “it’s time.”

Louise recounts: “The more I tried to ignore what God was saying to me and just stay busy, the louder His voice seemed to become until it was so loud that it was drowning everything else out. So, I felt like I had no choice but to be obedient to Him.”

Louise has always kept journals, so she started to write, starting with the year her parents met, and she did not stop for two and a half years. The result? A very honest, and at times raw and painful, account of her life, including the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her father and his friends.

Louise moved to Perth in 1988 and unbelievably had repressed all memories of the abuse until one day, at the age of 23, following a traumatic event she uncovered the horrifying truth. As she recalls in her book Loved. Saved. Healed, “I felt this rushing in my head like a wind getting louder and louder, and with it came this sickly feeling and a revelation: my father had sexually abused me, and I had forgotten everything.”

Louise’s journey of self-discovery began that day and two years later she was addicted to drugs and had just entered an abusive relationship. Louise continued to struggle, until one day she got pregnant and her whole life changed. Louise says, “I had always wanted to be a mum, but never thought I would get the chance. I didn’t even know God back then, but it was like He knew I needed a fresh start, and He gifted me a son.”

Unfortunately, she then spent over eight years fighting her way through a domestic violence relationship and finally broke free in 2011. It was after giving her heart to the Lord Jesus Christ in 2012 that the real healing begun. After her fourth hospital admission for depression and PTSD in 2017, Louise realised that God was going to use her in a mighty way to reach the broken and the lost.

As she says in Loved. Saved. Healed, “For anyone who has been hurt and betrayed, this story is for you. For anyone who has given up on themselves or humanity, I hope my words bring you hope. For anyone who has had their heart trampled on and for those who have caused immense pain to the ones they love, I want to tell you: there is a way forward.”

Louise believes passionately in the healing power of Jesus Christ and has seen it in many areas of her own life and in the lives of those around her. Louise has a heart for people who have been let down, betrayed and hurt. She wants the entire world to know of the miracles that only God can bring, and the peace that comes from loving Him.

She says of her own relationship with God: “Somehow. out of all the mess, He has given me a beautiful and precious life. Only the Lord could take all the hurt I have been through and turn it into something good. I want everyone to know that you can move past your pain and suffering and truly forgive those who have hurt you.”

Louise has a challenge for you; she wants you to look deep inside yourself and ask the following questions:

What hurts are you still hanging onto?
What past mistakes and regrets are sitting inside your heart, causing you pain? What do you need to forgive yourself for?
And more importantly, who in your life do you need to forgive?”

Louise knows first-hand of the forgiveness and healing that can only come from loving and serving Jesus. “When you choose to not forgive you are saying that what Jesus did on the cross for you was not enough, when in truth, it was always enough,” Louise says.

Louise has been married for over ten years and has three beautiful children. She has worked hard to forgive those who caused her so much pain. Louise will never forget the trauma that she suffered, but she wants you to know that it is possible to heal from your past and that it doesn’t have to dictate how you live your life.

She says in Loved. Saved. Healed, “…The real strength comes from knowing God and loving Him and surrendering to Him, especially when the unexpected happens. Life is a crazy ride, and we must hold onto Him tightly!”

Loved. Saved. Healed. published by Ark House, is now globally available. You can also connect with Louise on Facebook and Tik Tok, @loved_saved_healed.

awaiting his return

End times expert’s new book examines crucial scriptures in readiness for the Rapture

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – Marc Wheway’s enlightening new book Awaiting His Return, is a great reminder for all Christians about the importance of steadfast living, all the while being positioned in a post-Christendom world.

While our societies are moving further and further away from the principles that God set out for us to live by, this likewise puts Christians under pressure to drift from the way of live the Bible has set out. A world focused on individualism, monetary gain, and essentially a world away from how God wants us to live means that Christians must keep an eye on what is to come. Becoming lukewarm and self obsessed are challenges we must all keep an eye on.

In Awaiting His Return, Dr. Marc Wheway, a dedicated researcher with a doctoral degree in eschatology from Louisiana Baptist University and Theological Seminary and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Griffith University, carefully navigates prophetic scriptures.

As you can see, he is no lightweight on the subject. Awaiting His Return invites readers to delve into the Apostle Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians, in which he emphasises the crucial themes of steadfastness and readiness for the Rapture. Through his teachings, Paul urges believers to maintain vigilance and lead a blameless life in anticipation of the Lord’s sudden return, which is described as happening “like a thief in the night” (cf. Lu. 12:39; 1 Thess. 5:2, 4; Rev. 3:3, 16:15).

Books on the end times might not be the first choice of genre for every Christian, but as the book of Revelation tells us, the man who understands this book shall be blessed.

Marc Wheway is one Christian who has developed a serious interest in eschatology. Raised in a traditional Assemblies of God Church from age fifteen, he was exposed to Tim Lahaye’s Left Behind series while attending youth group in the nineteen-eighties. The production both interested him immensely and at the same time, scared him to death. From that time onwards, he was hooked on eschatology.

Marc says that the study of end times helps him to stay alert and vigilant as a Christian, aware that Jesus could return at any time.

“Regardless of my life concerning Christ, or the circumstances in general, I have never lost sight of the fact that Jesus could come for His church at any moment,” he said. “I also had a strong conviction that I would play a part in the things to come.

“Thirty-plus years later, I have not come across anything that has had the same impact as Tim Lahaye’s Left Behind series. Although I have read many books on the subject and have watched just about every teaching series and movie I could get my hands on, still, nothing has come close.”

With many Christian leaders not having a strong interest in the subject, and thus have limited knowledge on the end times, there are not many resources available, and often, what is available falls well short of the truth. According to Marc, many writings and those teaching on the subject lack the theological framework, and historical familiarity, to accurately piece together the puzzle.

Awaiting His Return is not Marc’s only book on the subject of eschatology. He is also the author of Return to the Lord; The Letters of Jude and John; Twenty-Four Signs of the End Times; Zechariah, Daniel’s Divulgement, The Revelation, Proclaimed and Explained, and The Revelation, the Revival.

Awaiting His Return, published by Ark House, is now available globally.

the way of the maker

The Way of the Maker by Debbie Lynn Gaustad Empowers Believers to Confidently Counter Evolutionary Theories and will be Free to Download Tomorrow, July 2, 2024

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – United States—Monday, July 1, 2024 – Debbie Lynn Gaustad invites readers on an inspiring journey through the wonders of creation that equips believers to confidently share their faith and evidence for biblical creation. This easy-to-understand guide uses logic, common sense, and critical thinking to help readers become amateur observational creation scientists and address the theories of evolution.

In her book, Gaustad answers important questions that challenge the basics of evolution:

  • Macro-Evolution: Gaustad explains why changing from one species to another—known as macro-evolution—has not been observed or documented.
  • The Origin of Life: She tackles the question of how nonliving matter could evolve into living organisms, arguing against the idea that something can come from nothing.
  • Miracle of Human Life: Gaustad celebrates the miracle of human life made in the image of God.
  • Uniqueness in Nature: She highlights how evolution fails to explain the distinctiveness we see in the natural world.

Gaustad’s book is designed to be easy-to-understand, as it turns complex scientific ideas into something everyone can understand. The book includes questions for exploration, practical ideas to put knowledge into practice, and prayers to connect theoretical knowledge to real-life faith.

This book is more than just a response to evolutionary theory; it’s a call for believers to strengthen their faith with evidence and share the wonders of creation with confidence and passion.

Debbie Lynn Gaustad’s “The Way of the Maker” will be free and available for download on Amazon for 5 days, July 2, 2024 through July 6, 2024. “The Way of the Maker” is rated 5 stars by those who purchased and reviewed the book. Here’s what a couple of the reviewers have said:
