peace in the midst of the storm

Author’s new book will help you find peace in the storm

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – Kaleb Thompson, native of North Myrtle Beach, SC, continues to aim towards fulfilling encouragement and inspiration through his spiritual poetry book titled, “Peace in the Midst of the Storm.” Released in December of 2021, “Peace in the Midst of the Storm” was created for the purpose of embracing faith, resilience, and empowerment in an ever-changing world that is filled with negativity.

It also signifies how anxiety and fear can greatly sustain mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual strain and discomfort throughout everyday life, which are difficult challenges that Thompson can heavily relate to. Grief and COVID-19 also played a definite role in allowing Thompson to write uplifting poetry in order to provide him the therapy that was much needed to share his personal experiences and meaningful thoughts with the world as a whole. When one reads this book, it can be thoroughly concluded that Thompson writes from a place of authenticity, honesty, vulnerability that helps ease the mind and soothe the soul.

To add, Thompson expresses themes of love, family, blame, jealousy, unity, strength, friendship, and forgiveness that provide a pivotal significance for the purpose of the book, which is possessing the confidence and the power to overcome difficult challenges.

“Peace in the Midst of the Storm” also adheres to those who share the Christian faith. With that being said, Thompson often mentions the supernatural essence of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit in which he highlights how evident his faith and trust within them has enabled him to overcome his own storms through positivity, joy, peace, and happiness.

“Denouncing negativity of any kind, Thompson urges his readers to value their self-worth and to not be defined by their discouragements by stating, “We were built to heal and elevate from the scars that attempted to permanently damage our sacred temples. We were built to stand firmly, in spite of the obstacles that were repeatedly present. We were built to know that we are enough.”

Faith over fear. Confidence over worry. Light over darkness. Overall, Thompson presses for the notion to choose life.

“This book soothes, motivates, strengthens the relationship and admiration to the Christian God, and it also encourages growth, personal growth, through its soft and well-thought words. You can see that the author, Kaleb, is talking from his heart and has passed through some challenging times himself, so these advices are charged with conviction and will lift the reader up in the dire circumstances in life, both through the encouragement of prayer as the reminder that we can take a step back and breath in order to gather our strengths! This is a book that, if you are devoted to God, and are going through some rough times, you should keep it with you at all times. A must read.” – Scribble’s Worth Book Reviews

With his literary work being composed of poetic and spiritual elements, Thompson has been featured in notable publications including New York Business Now, The US Times, Hustle Weekly, and Stars of Entrepreneurship. In addition, “Peace in the Midst of the Storm” has accumulated distinct awards for literary excellence such as the Feathered Quill Book Awards, Literary Titan Book Award, New York Best Sellers Award, Royal Dragonfly Book Award, the Firebird Book Award, and many more, specializing in the poetry and spirituality categories.

In June of 2023, Thompson was able to achieve another feat with his book as it became an Amazon best-seller, an accomplishment that he remains incredibly proud of. Thompson is aware that this life was not promised to be easy for all but he hopes that those who will read his book will be encouraged to know that the ability to concede is never an option.

“Peace in the Storm” is currently available on many online retailers ranging from Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Books-A-Million while the audiobook is currently available on Audible and iBooks. Former Patient Writes Guide to Assist Caregivers When Loved Ones or Clients Are Hospitalized

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – In 2019, pre-COVID, almost 7 percent of people aged eighteen to forty-four in the United States were hospitalized at least once. But among people sixty-five and older, the rate was almost 17 percent.[1]

As a former hospital patient, daughter, and sister of long-time patients, author Jody L. Gold says she is “painfully aware of how the system of care works.” Sensing an informational gap, she sought to fill it by writing The Caregiver’s Quick Guide to Medical Care: How to Navigate Hospital Care, Communication, and Services (Redemption Press).

In her work in law, Gold interviewed people seeking advocacy and proper care. Her brother was hospitalized as a child and she spent time with him extensively as he recovered. Years later, she navigated her own breast cancer journey, and wrote Navigating the Clouds about that experience. Now she has published The Caregiver’s Quick Guide to Medical Care designed to help caregivers whose family members or clients of care homes are hospitalized.

“The care and comfort of the patient is what put this on my heart,” Gold said, noting patients are vulnerable, and advocacy is “the most important thing we can give.” Her interactive and step-by-step quick guide helps prepare and streamline the process of a loved one or care facility client going into the hospital.

Hospital terms, helpful forms to aid in communication with hospital staff, questions to ask, what to expect, and what assistance is available are covered. The tools in this resource will help instill confidence in caregivers for navigating hospital care—from intake to final arrangements, if necessary.

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – United States—Monday, January 22, 2024

Lynn Nitcher presents her debut book, Faithful Before, Faithful Again, A 21-Day Challenge: Finding God Faithful in an Anxious World (Redemption Press)

In a world where stress and anxiety are rapidly becoming the norm for mothers, Lynn Nitcher, a debut author and podcast host, offers a beacon of hope. With over two-thirds of mothers confessing to feeling anxious in a recent survey by Everyday Health Group[1], the need for solace and guidance has never been more urgent.

“Faithful Before, Faithful Again, A 21-Day Challenge,” a devotional masterpiece that seeks to inspire mothers to lean into their faith, offering them comfort and strength in their parenting journey.

Having experienced the trials and tribulations of motherhood firsthand while raising three children and working in early childhood education, Nitcher truly understands the pressures mothers face. Her book is a testament to resilience, filled with heartfelt stories that highlight God’s unwavering faithfulness even in moments of extreme stress. It’s a gentle reminder of the promise of peace for troubled hearts.

“Faithful Before, Faithful Again” is tailored for all mothers—those navigating the labyrinth of children’s activities and packed schedules, those raising teenagers, and even those who have entered the empty nest phase and are questioning their purpose. Nitcher candidly shares her personal experiences with anxiety and worry, and how she found solace in God’s faithfulness.

As Nitcher puts it, “My primary aim with this book is to help mothers recall God’s faithfulness, recognize how He has met their needs in the past, and reassure them of His continued presence in their future. Because God has proven faithful before, we can trust He will remain faithful again.”

This book isn’t just a read—it’s an interactive experience. It includes journaling pages for reflective responses, encouraging mothers to spend daily time with Jesus in His Word. This helps them uncover God’s faithfulness in their own lives, providing a soothing balm for their anxiety and instilling a deep-seated peace that comes from knowing they are not alone in their struggles.

Canine Trainer Shares Life Lessons After the Loss of Her Rough Collie

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – Coping with the sudden loss of a beloved pet can be traumatic for pet owners. The Ralph Site, a UK-based grief support site, suggests writing about “the special memories you shared and the big impact they made on your life, even if you only had a short time together.”[1]

Christine Nicole Ferris took this to heart following the death of her beloved rough collie Lad. Out of her Lad stories has come Lessons from Lad: What My Dog Taught Me About Life, Love, Leadership, and Loss, a devotional (Redemption Press).

Ferris dreamed of owning a rough collie and naming him Lad since she was twelve. Over twenty-five years later, as a canine leadership trainer and founder of Trustee Training Services, she held her Lad for the first time.

When Lad was unexpectedly snatched away from her fourteen months later, Ferris felt overwhelming grief. She says, “Losing Lad wasn’t just the death of a dog, it was the death of a dream.” When she asked God why, two words came softly to her heart—Lad lessons.

Immediately she began writing down some of the life lessons Lad had taught her. In fifty-two lessons, Christine Ferris shares the lasting legacy Lad left in her heart. While she describes them as a “gift of loss,” the Lad lessons are joyful, heartfelt, and have much wisdom to impart. Lessons about patience, commitment, staying calm, meekness, love, expressing joy, and inevitable loss all come from the fourteen memorable months spent with Lad and will leave paw prints on your heart.

Dr. David B. Smith of Al Smith Ministries says, Lessons From Lad, “offers a unique window, gleaned through Lad’s daily journey, into the everyday triumphs, trials, teachings, and tragedies of life. Each lesson is practical and helpful as we navigate the terrain of life.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Ten years of participation in the Elkhart County 4-H program cultivated Christine Nicole Ferris’s love for public speaking and canine training, two passions that have shaped her life and career as a canine leadership trainer. The founder of Trustee Training Services, she is a John Maxwell certified trainer, speaker, and coach. She uses her relationship with her golden retriever Trustee and her young collie Lad’s Legend to illustrate leadership principles. Christine and her husband David live in north-central Indiana and together teach leadership with a K9 component, investing in their community, public schools, and libraries as K9 therapy teams.

  4. Can you share your story of losing Lad after just fourteen months together?

Center for Mission Mobilization Now Via New name brings clarity to global efforts

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – FAYETTEVILLE, AR. — The Center for Mission Mobilization is now Via. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit, headquartered in Fayetteville, AR, launched its new brand in 2023 to bring more clarity to the organization, to serve more effectively cross-culturally, and to unify a growing network of teams and partners in over 25 countries.

The name changed, but the vision of Via remains the same: to catalyze mission-sending movements from 50 countries having the greatest access to over 3 billion people who remain unreached with the gospel.

Why Via?

Via means “through another” or “by way of.” Via seeks to reach the nations through the nations — through the church God has established within those nations. By engaging indigenous believers with resources and training, Via equips believers worldwide to lead a new era in mission sending.

“Through the nations to the nations – Via is memorable; it’s clear. It fits our humble posture, ” said Dave Rofkahr, executive director of Via. “We work through, with, and by others. We’re not the only thing going; we’re here to come alongside the global church to reach the nations.”

Via’s former name, Center for Mission Mobilization, carried some terms that posed challenges as the organization grew globally. The word “mission” can be a red flag in many countries, and “mobilization” is often viewed as a military term. Additionally, Via seeks to come alongside the global church with humility and meekness, so there is value in placing less emphasis on words that would position it as the “center.”

Changing the name also brought more clarity to the mission by eliminating confusion about Via’s sub-ministries—Via Generosity (formerly Support Raising Solutions), Via Families (formerly Weave) and Via Students (formerly Campus Ministry Today). The sub-ministry names transitioned to fit succinctly with Via so that all are connected.

Global Reach

Via launched its new website in April 2023 and continues to roll out new solutions for churches, families, students, and support raisers across the globe. New doors have opened for Via throughout Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America.

According to Via’s 2023 Global Vision Update, more than 126,000 people were exposed to God’s global mission this past year. Over 61,000 people were further developed through training and discipleship, and over 5,000 new missionaries were deployed by staff and partners of Via.

“I’ve observed many times, in country after country, the nationals in those countries view our staff differently,” said Steve Shadrach, founder and global ambassador of Via. “They view them with great appreciation and admiration because our staff did not come as prideful Americans, but really as humble servants, not taking charge, but really helping them accomplish what they want to accomplish.”

About Via

Via is a leading mission mobilization organization. Churches, agencies and ministries use Via’s proven studies, resources, training and events to strategically mobilize students, families, ministry leaders and missionaries to unreached people groups. Via is reaching the nations through the nations.
