Am I Predestined? Or Free to Choose?

New Release Am I Predestined? Or Free to Choose? Will be Free to Download Tomorrow, October 24, 2023

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – United States—Monday, October 23, 2023

Have you ever wondered about the intricacies of faith, predestination, and free will? Is salvation a divine decree or a choice we freely make? These profound questions have sparked countless theological debates and divided opinions within the religious community.

In a bold endeavor to illuminate these elusive doctrines, Am I Predestined? Or Free to Choose? (Redemption Press) Craig Reid offers a riveting and enlightening exploration into the heart of these complex issues.

Reid, a seasoned Bible scholar and petroleum engineer, delves deep into the doctrines of predestination, election, foreknowledge, and the transformative power of the new covenant. His meticulous examination of the scriptures provides a fresh perspective on the discussion around predestination and the free will of man.

Drawing inspiration from the renowned 19th-century preacher Charles H. Spurgeon, who famously stated, “I never have to reconcile friends. Divine sovereignty and human responsibility have never had a falling out with each other. I do not need to reconcile what God has joined together”[1], Reid embarks on a journey that bridges the gap between Calvinism and Arminianism, two major theological views that have shaped Christian thought for centuries.

In Am I Predestined? Or Free to Choose?, Reid presents a compelling narrative that underscores the universality of salvation and the all-encompassing love that God has for us. This ground-breaking book is an invaluable resource for avid Bible students, teachers, and anyone seeking a deeper understanding of their faith.

We invite you to delve into this captivating exploration of one of Christianity’s most debated subjects. Prepare to be challenged, inspired, and ultimately enlightened by Reid’s insightful analysis.

Craig Reid’s Am I Predestined? Or Free to Choose? will be available for download for free on Amazon for 5 days from October 24, 2023 through October 28, 2023

In the world of caregiving and grief, a beacon of hope emerges in the form of a new book, “Suitcases from Heaven: A Mother’s Hope Journey through Her Daughter-in-law’s Cancer.” This heart-wrenching yet uplifting narrative promises to touch hearts and inspire readers amidst the most challenging times.

Penned by seasoned caregiver Cindy Henson, the book offers an intimate look into her journey as she navigated the stormy seas of grief and loss. Having spent twenty-five years caring for her autistic son, Cindy was no stranger to the unique challenges that caregiving brings. Yet, when her son and daughter-in-law moved in with her, diagnosed with a rare and terminal adrenal cancer, she found herself facing an entirely new depth of fear and sorrow.

Cindy grappled with the terror of watching her daughter-in-law, Jazmin struggle for breath and the devastating reality of her impending loss. She yearned for a miracle – not just a spiritual one that Jazmin spoke of, but a tangible, undeniable cure. However, in a pivotal moment of divine intervention, Cindy found herself boarding Jazmin’s ‘hope train’, becoming one of her greatest supporters in her battle against cancer.

“Suitcases from Heaven” is more than just a story of a woman’s fight against cancer; it’s a testament to unwavering faith, unyielding love, and the power of hope even in the face of adversity. It’s a tale of a girl who believed in God’s love despite the absence of a miracle, and a mother-in-law who learned to believe in miracles in a different way.

Whether you’re in the throes of a faith crisis, navigating the dark valley of grief, or caring for a terminally ill loved one, “Suitcases from Heaven” promises to be a source of comfort, enlightenment, and strength. It’s a story that reminds us that even in our darkest hours, hope can still shine through.

For those seeking solace and inspiration in the midst of grief and caregiving, “Suitcases from Heaven: A Mother’s Hope Journey through Her Daughter-in-law’s Cancer” is a compelling read that promises to touch hearts and inspire resilience.

the b word

A young woman’s struggle from the torment of bulimia to freedom in Christ detailed in new book

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – Open the first page of Katrina Wilkie’s novel the B Word and you read these words:

“The B Word is my story. I’ve written it down for you, so you can read the words I most needed to hear. Beautiful one, don’t give up. There is hope. There is healing and a whole new life for you that is yours to claim. This nightmare you are going through is not your forever. Just hold on and take one tiny step at a time. Love, Katrina.”

Katrina Wilkie first wrote her book the B Word soon after her bulimia stopped. But her healing was far from complete, and the manuscript was shelved as she spent the following thirty years alternating between binge eating, under eating, exercise addiction and various forms of disordered eating. It wasn’t until she began facing the things in her life, which had lead to her eating disorders, that she began to heal.

The manuscript came off the shelf, was dusted off and edited, and is now a story which offers hope to the many people who are suffering from bulimia, or another form of disordered eating.

Katrina has a lived experience of the truth that ‘secrets make you sick’. Katrina says that “telling someone your secret for the first time is scary, even when it’s a trusted person. My story hopefully encourages people to tell their own story to someone, no matter where they are on their path to healing”.

Katrina chose to create the character ‘Louise’, rather than write her story as a first-person testimony. She says: “I think this allowed me to add interesting elements to the character and her friends, which makes the book more fun to read. I’ve changed people’s names and some of the details, but most of the people in the story were a big part of my life back then”.

“I haven’t held back from describing the struggles Louise goes through, because I want the book to be relatable. As they read about Louise’s struggles, I want people to be able to see themselves, and hold on to hope that they are not alone.”

An important part of the story is Louise’s faith journey. The question why doesn’t God just heal me? is one Louise asks often. The reader also catches glimpses of Louise’s past and where her eating issues may have begun. The answer to this question is never explicitly answered, but it is clear that Louise has started on her recovery journey and that she is slowly letting God heal her from one thing at a time, one step at a time.

The B Word is a small window into Katrina’s life and history with disordered eating. She has written the book about her struggle with bulimia because she believes bulimia is an eating disorder people don’t talk about. “There is a lot of guilt and shame around having bulimia” she says, “but it is much more prevalent than people realise. People tend to talk about anorexia or other forms of disordered eating much more easily.

“Eating disorders are actually a serious mental health condition. Recovery includes understanding this, and being able to talk about what you are going through.”

According to Australian body Eating Disorders Victoria, approximately 1 million people in Australia are living with a form of eating disorder. Of those, four times more people are suffering from bulimia than anorexia.

Katrina is an Australian author. Her recovery journey continues one step at a time. She is currently working on writing a book that tells the rest of her story. She loves hearing other people’s stories, and can be found on Facebook and Instagram.

The B Word by Katrina Wilkie ISBN: 9780645802535 can be purchased on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Koorong and other online bookstores.

Josefina Catherine Cunningham

Testimony for 3 year-old Josefina Catherine Cunningham, murdered in July, 2023

This testimony is about my three-year-old little sister Josefina Catherine Cunningham, an African American girl who was murdered on July 7 2023, in Rensselaer, New York, by thirty-three-year-old white man R. J. F.

I believe God used her while she was living on this earth, and until her time of departure drew near. God used her to show how children are the greatest in the kingdom of God. Just like the Apostle Paul when he was at the end of his race and about to die he said,” I finished my course.” I believe my sister’s course to make African American history.

In just a short time she lived, her death was powerful and profound. This means life is not measured in how long we live but how we live until we die. She was a very bright light in her days.

My sister finished well. I will continue to honor her legacy. It reminds me of the Emmett Till Story, the African American boy who was killed in Mississippi in 1955 at age of 14 they were both very young.

Rhyming Picture Book on Salvation Introduces Children to Jesus

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – A study from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health found that children who regularly pray and attend church grow up to report a stronger sense of community and fewer symptoms of depression. They tend to “think about their health in a holistic way, where the mind, body and spirit are all connected,” says Jane Kuepfer, a specialist in spirituality and aging at Conrad Grebel University College at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.1

Helping children build their spiritual foundations “set[s] the stage for the child’s future and help[s] them to develop those faith-based habits to prepare them for when they reach an age where they can begin to reflect on and understand the different aspects of faith.”2

One way to introduce young children to faith in Christ is through picture books. In Jesus in the Driver’s Seat (Redemption Press), Rachael A. McCloskey takes the unique approach of explaining salvation and conversion through the metaphor of motorized machines.

In this sprightly and spirited picture book sprinkled with scripture, children will join Jesus in mighty machines from fire trucks to excavators as he rescues, protects, and helps them build a brand new heart-home full of peace and joy. And amid the constructive teamwork, they’ll see how asking Jesus to “take the driver’s seat” can keep them safe with him forever.

“My heart’s desire and prayer has been to teach children who Jesus is and what He does for them once they accept Him into their heart,” says McCloskey. “My book merges a child’s love for machines along with learning who Jesus is and what He can do for their heart in both a practical and playful way.

They will discover that Jesus is their best friend, and their faith will be expanded by learning that He heals, delivers, provides for us a foundation, and so much more.”

With Jesus in the Driver’s Seat, vehicle-loving kids will be ready to zoom off into the adventure of salvation.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Rachael A. McCloskey holds a master’s degree in speech-language pathology and has written for faith-based blogs and Focus on the Family magazine. She has worked for Early Intervention, served as leader in the Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) program, and been vice president of ministry development for her local chapter of Aglow International. Groundbreaking New Release, “Awake” Transforms Fear into Hope Redefining the End-Times Narrative with Love and Anticipation Free to Download Tomorrow, October 4, 2023

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – United States—Tuesday, October 3, 2023

In an era characterized by global crises, technological advancements, and international conflicts, the concept of Christ’s Second Coming has never felt more resonant. But what if we could embrace this notion, not with fear, but with love and anticipation? This is the transformative perspective offered by Gerry S. Sager in his compelling new book, “Awake: A Fresh End-Times Perspective.”

Sager, refusing to be boxed into the roles of date-setter or trendsetter, offers us a hopeful yet urgent message: Christ’s return may be closer than we think. His book is not just another end-times prediction; it’s a spiritual guidebook. He meticulously constructs a biblically grounded view, challenging long-held misconceptions that have skewed traditional church teachings about the signs of Christ’s return.

“Awake” is not merely about prophecies, but also about preparation and solace. Sager emphasizes that prophecy’s true purpose is to equip us with foreknowledge and comfort us amid troubling times.

Sager expertly navigates the often confusing and seemingly contradictory interpretations of this paradigm, inviting readers to explore a fresh understanding of when and how the Lord will return. “Awake” is a treasure trove for those seeking to comprehend the mysteries of Revelation, Daniel, and end-time prophecies. It reassures readers of God’s unwavering control amidst chaos and encourages them to remain vigilant and alert for the Lord’s return.

“Awake” is more than a book; it’s an invitation to see with new eyes and hear with open ears. It offers a refreshing outlook on the end-times narrative that will captivate its readers.

Gerry S. Sager’s “Awake” will be free and available for download on Amazon for 5 days, Wednesday, October 4, 2023 through Sunday, October 8, 2023. “Awake” is rated 5 stars by those who purchased and reviewed the book. Here’s what a couple of the reviewers have said:

Fresh Perspective
5 Stars

“This book provided a very different perspective on the book of Revelation than I am accustomed to. While interesting and well organized in presentation it is going to take me some time to digest the unique concepts this Author presents. The aspects of the Book of Daniel were more interesting as they provided a clearer understanding of certain aspects of the Old Testament. I would recommend this book to those who may be seeking a different End Times view and definitely provides aspects to think about.”

Daddy Will Carry Me

Author’s new book, born from the loss of a precious child, will inspire you in your own faith journey

FAITH NEWS SERVICE – “God woke me this morning and told me, ‘If you don’t do anything else for me today, phone Barb and tell her it’s time to start the book!’”

The phone call was unexpected and direct. Barb Ireland was pleased to hear from her pastor friend. Any connection in this time of nationwide Covid-19 lockdown was welcome, but she did not see her words coming.

Barb needed to write the story of how her precious daughter, Laura Grace, aged three, died suddenly and tragically one October morning in 2003.

“A book had been in my heart for years” Barb says. “There was a story to tell, even for my family alone–to help them understand, support them in hard times, and give them a chance to look through adult eyes at what happened to us all 20 years ago. I was willing to write it for them. I just hadn’t got around to it.”

“But with the phone call, I felt the prod.”

Daddy Will Carry Me is the heartbreaking, yet inspiring story of the faith Paul and Barb Ireland had to be able to continue on after losing their precious daughter. Laura died tragically in an accident on the family farm early on the day of October 14th, 2003.

Laura was Barb and Paul’s third child, arriving in their family when her siblings were ages 8 and 10. She was a treasured daughter and sister. Laura loved the farm and enjoyed trips out in the ute with Paul. She enjoyed helping to look after the animals. Laura was great fun and very social. Despite the age gap, she was very much a part of her older brother and sister’s worlds, and they let her boss them around endlessly. She also loved playing with their old Labrador, Lucy. She loved drawing and painting on whatever surface she found available and she was Barb’s constant companion.

Naturally, her death rocked the family to its core, also testing their faith in God as they tried to navigate a future without their beautiful daughter.

“Immediately after the accident, Paul and I were surrounded by family, friends and community,” Barb stated. “I cannot imagine how we would have gotten through without their love and practical support. In the early days, it was a blur of arrangements, visitors, and many, many tears and hugs. We were wrapped in arms of love and carried through.

Once the funeral was over, we faced the challenge of learning to live without Laura and doing the work of grief. We got through this, despite the fear that we never would. We learned to navigate each day, one step at a time.

“The year after Laura died, we leased out our farm to take time to heal. We took our children out of school and travelled, using this time to rest, process all that had happened and seek counsel. We were deliberate in facing pain and allowing each other grace to express this.

Piece by piece, we rebuilt our lives from the inside out. Losing our little girl forever changed us.”

Barb says that while many years have passed since Laura died, the sadness is still there. “I think it will always be a part of us,” Barb shared. “Through the process of grieving and with the fullness of time, we have learned that life can still be beautiful, even after such tragedy. At the time of the accident, I feared I would never find peace or hope again. These days I can experience my sadness while holding peace and hope in my heart.”

Barb says that faith has always been an important part of her and Paul’s lives, but everything was up for question when Laura died. She says she asked God why on many occasions. “I went through times of bitterness and self-pity,” Barb says, “but in all of my searching and questioning, I realised that I needed God now, more than ever. I saw that He had always been there providing for me. He is my healer. I rebuilt my faith on firmer foundations. Faith in God is Barb’s source of hope and peace, even after the tragic death of little Laura.

Barb says that while she had been thinking about writing their story for a long time, the call from her friend was the prompting she needed. There was a story to be told, not only for her family, but for the countless other people who endure tragedy.

“If you are grieving, then Daddy Will Carry Me is for you,” Barb says. “If you are asking why? this story is for you. If you are travelling with someone with a broken heart, this story is for you. I pray that as you read, I can hold the hope-light for you while you wait for yours to shine again. And I pray that you will know that you are held, carried in arms of Eternal Love, Peace and Strength.”

Daddy Will Carry Me is now available globally.
