Parents Are Joining Their Children on Summer Vacation

SchoolhouseTeachers.com is saving home educators time and money

As the homeschooling year draws to a close, students are planning fun things to do on their summer break, but parents are already planning for next year. Choosing curricula and gathering resources can take many hours and a lot of money, but those who visit SchoolhouseTeachers.com are finding everything they need in a matter of minutes at a bargain price!

The June Firefly Special on monthly memberships is happening now at SchoolhouseTeachers.com, the curriculum website of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. Until June 28, new members pay only $5 for the first month (using the code FIREFLY) and then the price is locked in at $10.95 per month for the lifetime of the membership. (That is more than 45% off the regular monthly rate of $19.95.)

“Parents need a summer break, too,” explains Gena Suarez, homeschooling mom and publisher of The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine. “Moms breathe a sigh of relief when they land on our website and realize that their summertime search is over. They see more than 400 courses, 450 streaming videos, and 1,100 pages of planning and recordkeeping tools. There are 10 libraries of World Book Online and 13 Focused Learning Centers, including a Just for Parents Center.”

A monthly membership to SchoolhouseTeachers.com grants a whole family unlimited access to the site. Lessons can be downloaded and printed or completed online. Students love the interactive course content. Parents love the interactive support from the Member Forum and the Facebook Group.

Gena says, “Hey, Mama! Take the summer off and have fun with your kids! Lock in your membership now, and don’t worry about the fall. We will be here with everything you need when the school bell rings.”

Brazilian blind surfer’s story of great courage and faith

Every so often, a unique book comes along that will inspire and motivate you to step into what is you dare to dream about. Beyond These Eyes (Ark House Press) is the biography of Derek Rabelo, the world-renowned Brazilian blind surfer and one of the most courageous people on the planet.

Born blind due to congenital glaucoma, Derek Rabelo is globally recognized for his big wave surfing feats. He carries with him a great faith in his God, a faith he says makes it possible to achieve what very few with able sight can.

Famous for his big wave courage, he has ridden life-threatening monsters at Pipeline, Jaws and Mavericks in Northern California, and most recently surfing 50-foot waves in Nazare, Portugal. While it is an unbelievable attempt for anyone, it is a pure miracle if you are blind.

Derek’s story is one of overcoming in the face of great opposition. His humility is shown throughout his life as portrayed in the book.

Derek owes so much of his surfing career to the guidance of his father, a former surfer. He encouraged his son to step out in faith and do the extraordinary. In fact his whole family have lovingly supported him in all his endeavors. He has also successfully been a downhill skier and skateboard rider.

Beyond These Eyes takes you on an extraordinary journey inside Derek’s life. From the time of his birth, the anguish and then devotion and love of his family, to his build up to being a big wave surfer.
